Caron Simply Soft yarn... Red & White
Hook: G

With Red:
Row 1: Ch 2 – 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook; sl st to join (5 stitches).
Row 2: Ch 1 – 2 sc 1st st; sc in each st to last; 2 sc in last st; sl to join (7).
Row 3: Ch 1 – 2 sc in each stitch; sl st to join (14).
Row 4-7: Ch 1 – sc in each st; sl st to join (14).
Row 8: Ch 1 – 2 sc in first st; * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around; sl st to join (21)
Row 9: Ch 1 – sc in each st around; sl st to join (21)
Row 10: Ch 1 – 2 sc in 1st st; *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around; sl st to join (28)
Row 11-13: Ch 1 – sc in each st around; sl st to join (28)
Row 14: Ch 1 – 2 sc in 1st st; *sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around; sl st to join (35)
Row 15-17: Ch 1 – sc in each st around; sl st to join (35)
Row 18: Ch 1 – 2 sc in 1st st, *sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around; sl st to join (42)
Row 19-27: Ch 1; sc in each st around; sl st to join (42) … end and tie off this row.

BRIM:
With wrong side facing, join white where you ended last stitch.
Row 1: 2 sc in first st; * sc in 8 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around ending with sc in each of last 5 sc; sl st to join (47)
Row 2-8: Ch 1-turn. Working in back loops only, sc in each st (47). At end of row 8 – tie off.

FINISHING:
Turn brim up. Fold top of cap down and tack at about row 20 of cap on one side. (Be sure joining “seam” is at back). Make white pompom and attach to tip of cap at joined stitches
