If you normally chain three at beginning of row, then feel free to do so, and chain stitches accordingly. This pattern is very forgiving with how many stitches on each row. I prefer to use only two chains at the beginning of each row, but feel free to do what you feel most comfortable doing...
Row 1 - Starting at neckline, chain 32, dc in third ch from hook. Dc in next 3 dc (dc,ch1,dc) in next ch, *dc in next 6 ch, (dc,ch1,dc) in next ch, repeat from * 2 more times. Dc in last 4 ch, ch 2, turn.
Row 2-3 *dc in each st to ch1 sp. (dc,ch1,dc) in ch 1 sp. Repeat from * 3 times. Dc in each remaining st. ch2 turn.
Row 4 - *Dc in each st to ch 1 sp. (dc,ch1,dc) in ch 1 sp. Repeat from * 3 more times. Dc in each remaining stitch to the end. Ch 2 turn.
Row 5 - *hdc in each st to ch 1 sp (hdc,ch1, hdc) in ch 1 sp. Repeat from * 3 more times. Hdc in remaining st, ch 2 turn.
Row 6 (this row will form the sleeves) Hdc in each st to ch 1 sp. Hdc in ch1 sp, skip ALL sts to next ch 1 sp, hdc in each st to next ch 1 sp. Hdc in ch 1 sp. Skip all sts to next ch 1 sp, hadc in ch 1 sp, hdc in remaining sts to end. Join with sl st. ch 2 (do not turn).
Row 7 - Dc in same st as ch2, *dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * to last 4 sts. Dc in remaining sts. Join with sl st, ch 2 (do not turn).

Adding tab between legs
Find middle of opening, count back 4 stitches , join yarn , ch2, hdc in next 8 hdc, chain 2 turn, Add two more hdc rows, finish off. Do same on opposite side, so that tabs are lined up.
Sleeves join yarn underarm, ch 2, dc in each stitch around the sleeve opening (have at least 20 stitches when finished going around opening) ch 2, Work another dc in each stitch around, finish off at end of this row.

Collar
Find the middle of the shoulder (mark with safety pin), do this for each shoulder. Find the middle of the neckline in the front of outfit, again place a safety pin there.
At bottom of opening in back, join yarn, ch 2, hdc to neckline, at corner… ch 2, dc in ch 2 sp., work dc in each st to safety pin at middle of shoulder, remove pin, and do 3 dc in that stitch, continue one dc in each st till two spaces before safety pin in middle of outfit, in the next st , 2 dc, ch 2 , turn

Join with sl st in top of ch 2, (do not turn ) Rnd 2 ch 2, 2 dc in each dc, join with sl st , Rnd 3 ch 2,* Dc in next 3 dc, 1 inc , repeat from * around, join with slip st. Rnd 4 ch 2 *dc in next 5 dc, 1 inc, repeat from * around, join with slip st. Rnd 5, ch 2 dc in each dc around, join with slip st.
Repeat row 5 til desired length is achieved. Finish off.

Bunting
Use same yarn as bubble outfit, a larger hook may be used if desired Buttons (matching decorative buttons on outfit) Make a granny square, continue in rounds until 25 rows are completed. Finish off. Fold in half to find middle, then bring each side to middle to form bunting. At lower edge sc across both front and back of bunting, finish off. Join yarn at bottom of opening, you can now add a shell edging (six double crochet with sc in between each shell) OR make one or two more rounds of granny square. When finished overlap front edge, space buttons evenly to keep bunting closed.

Bubble Suit Preemie Dress

Bubble Suit Preemie DressSimply Soft Worsted Weight Yarn
H-hook

If you want one smaller, use Sport Weight and a G-hook

I started with the bubble suit, except I did it all in double crochet.
I followed the pattern down to the end of the increases and then dc evenly (no decreases) for the same amount of rows as if you were making the bubble suit.
dc the last row with the contrast color and don't add anything to the sleeves (you will have already done that row with the contrast color).
chain 35, sc across the neck and chain 35 for the ties.
