Long Dress with Long Sleeves
Materials: Simply Soft Yarn, F Hook, buttons, decorations
1. Chain 42 loosely... dc in 4th chain from hook, dc
in each chain , chain 3, turn
2. dc in each of first 2 stitches, (2 dc
in next stitch, 1 dc in stitch after that), repeat this across the row,
ending with 3 dc, chain 3, turn. About 60 stitches
3. dc in each of
first 2 stitches, (2 dc in next stitch, dc in each of next 2 stitches)
repeat across, ending with a dc in each of last 2 stitches, chain 3, turn.
About 78 st.
4. dc in each stitch, chain 3, turn.
5. Making
armholes here: Dc in each of first 12 stitches, chain 4, skip 16 dc from
previous row, dc in each of next 24 stitches, chain 4, skip 16 dc from
previous row, dc in last 12 stitches ..may have to work a dc in the
turning chain, chain 3, turn about 56 stitches.
6. dc in each of first
2 stitches (2 dc in next stitch, dc in each of next 5 stitches) repeat
this across the row, ending with 1 dc in last stitch. Chain 3, turn.
7. dc in first stitch, (2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in stitch after
that) repeat this across, slip stitch to first stitch., chain 3. From
here, you will be working in rounds on the skirt.
8. dc in each of
next 2 stitches, (skip next 3 stitches, in next stitch work (2 dc, 2
chains, 2 dc) (shell group), skip next 3 stitches, dc in each of next 3
stitches), repeat this, join with slip stitch in top of chain 3, chain 3.
You may only have 2 spaces at the join, but that is okay.
9. dc in
each of next 2 dc , (work (2 dc, 2 chains, 2 dc) in chain 2 of previous
shell group, dc in each of next 3 stitches) repeat around, join with slip
stitch to top of chain 3, chain 3.
10. Repeat row 9 until desired
length. For short dress, work 12 more rows of row 9.
11. Sc in each
stitch across, or for trim, (sc, chain 3 in each stitch around) join with
slip stitch, fasten off thread. Weave in end at neck and at bottom of
skirt.
SLEEVES
1. Join yarn to middle underarm stitch,
chain 3. Dc evenly around armhole, join in top of chain 3 with slip
stitch, chain 3.
2—7. Dc in each stitch around, join with slip stitch
in top of chain 3, chain 3
8. dc in first stitch, double crochet 2
together (decrease), (dc in next stitch, dec by double crocheting 2
together), repeat around, join with slip stitch to top of chain 3, chain 3
9. Repeat row 8
10. Dc in each stitch around, join with slip
stitch, chain 1
11. For sleeve trim, in each stitch (sc, chain 3),
join with slip stitch at end of round, fasten off yarn, weave in end.
12. A ribbon can be woven through row 11 if desired.
BACK PLACKET
Join yarn to last stitch of opening on
left side, sc evenly up the back opening, chain 1 turn
2. sc in each
stitch, chain 1, turn
3. sc in each stitch, chain 1, turn
4. sc in
each stitch, chain 1, finish off, weave in yarn ends.
This type of
placket lets the back sides meet evenly without a little pleat at the
bottom.
Sew buttons on this placket as desired, making sure there is a
button on row 1 and row 6.
NECK TRIM
Attach yarn at top back, (sc, chain 3) in
remaining loop of each stitch of row 1, finish off weave in yarn end.
DECORATE AS DESIRED
Suggestions: weave a
ribbon through stitches of row 1, securing ribbon by turning under ½” at
each end, wrapping the end of the ribbon around the first and last dc of
row 1. Repeat this on row 6.
Attach a bow or flower at center of row 1
and row 6.
NOTE: The sleeves may not be the right length, can
either add a dc row or omit a dc row to reach desired length. Same with
skirt length.
