Super Simple Preemie Hat

This pattern is an original design by Laura

*Measurements are taken by measuring outside circumference around the brim of the hat

Materials:
Size F hook - 11 1/2 inches, small preemie ( 2 to 3 lbs )
Size G hook - 12 inches, medium preemie ( 3 to 4 lbs )
Size H hook - 12 1/2 inches, large preemie ( 4 to 5 lbs )
Use 4 ply worsted weight yarn - Simply Soft is best

* Note - beginning ch 2 counts as one dc throughout pattern...

Ch 6 join sl st to form ring.
R1) ch 2, 1 dc in same st as ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of ch 2 ( 12 sts )
R2) ch 2, 1 dc in same st as ch 2, 2 dc in each st around
R3) ch 2, 1 dc in same st as ch 2, * 1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next 3 sts * repeat from * around ( 2 dc in last st ) join with sl st in top of ch 2 ( 38 sts )
R4 - 7) ch 2, dc in each st around ( 38 sts )
R8) ch 2, dc on FLO of each st around ( 38 sts ) ( FLO = front loop only )
R9) ch 2, dc ( working in both loops ) in each st around, join with sl st ( 38 sts )
Fasten off and weave in ends
Turn up brim
* Options - You can add pom-pom, tassel, ribbon, or button to top of hat
* You can make the brim a different color by finishing off at end of R7 and continue in a different color
