Short Sleeve JacketMATERIALS:
Sport Yarn -- H-hook

IMPORTANT--WHEN USING OTHER, WORSTED WEIGHT (#4) YARNS SUCH AS RED HEART AND SIMPLY SOFT, PLEASE SEE IMPORTANT NOTES AT END OF THIS PATTERN.


3-6 months size...

Ch 42
R1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in the next 4 ch, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch, dc in the next 6 ch, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch, dc in the next 12 ch, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch, dc in the next 6 ch, (dc, ch1,dc) in the next ch, dc in the last 6 ch.
R2-8: Ch2, turn * dc in each st to ch1-space, (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch 1-space, repeat from * dc in each remaining sts.
R9: (dividing row for sleeves) Ch2, turn, * dc in each ch to the ch1-space, dc in ch 1-space, skip to the next ch1-space, dc in ch1-space * repeat one more time, dc in remaining sts.
R 10-16: Ch2, turn, dc in each st across (do not fasten off)

Edging:
Ch1, turn, sc in each st across, 2 sc in each side, 1 dc in each neck chain, with 3 sc in each corner, fasten off with a slip st to the first sc.

Ties:
Join with a slip st to middle top corner, chain 40 fasten off. Repeat for other side.

Sleeves:
Short Sleeve Version:
Join with a slip st to center of the underarm.
R1: ( right side) Ch 2, dc evenly around- 25 st.
R2: ( wrong side) Ch 2, turn, dc in each st around
R3: ( right side) Sc in each st around, fasten off.
Long Sleeve Version:
Join with a slip st to center of underarm.
R1: (right side) Ch2, dc evenly around- 25 st.
R2: (wrong side) Ch2, turn, dc in each st around.
Repeat Rows 1 & 2 for a total of 8 Rows.
Row 9: Sc in each st around, fasten off.

NOTE: Make this sweater more "girlish" by adding a decorative edge such as a half shell or crab stitch.

******IMPORTANT--about using Worsted Weight (#4) yarns with this pattern when donating to God's Tiny Angels: With these yarns, we need the following changes to the above pattern, or the sweater turns out too large or not proportioned correctly and cannot be used by the babies.

*For Simply Soft Yarn -- an F Hook makes approximately newborn size with the following changes needed:
1. Yoke--Crochet rows 1 through 6, same as above pattern.
2. New Row 7 -- ch2, turn, *dc in each st to first sp, dc in ch1-space, --chain 6--, dc in next ch1-space*, repeat from * to * once, dc in rest of the stitches.
3. Row 8 -- 14 (Note new ending Row): Ch2, turn, dc in each st and ch across (do not fasten off)
4. Rest of the pattern as above, except please note you will have extra stitches in sleeves because of the 6 chains.

*For Red Heart, Worsted Weight yarn -- G hook makes approximately 3 - 6 months size, with following changes:
1. Yoke--Crochet rows 1 through 6, same as above.
2. New Row 7 -- ch2, turn, *dc in each st to first sp, dc in ch1-space, --chain 6--, dc in next ch1-space*, repeat from * to * once, dc in rest of the stitches.
3. Row 8 -- 15 (Note new ending row): Ch2, turn, dc in each st and ch across (do not fasten off)
4. Continue rest of pattern as in original, except please note you will have extra stitches in sleeves because of the 6 chains.
